Sackett Building Renovation and Addition
Status: Under Construction
Target Completion: August 2027
Location: Penn State University Park
Design: Kieran Timberlake
Construction: The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company
The project is a key component in modernizing the College of Engineering facilities and correcting the functional obsolescence of existing facilities. Coupled with two new facilities on the West Campus, this makes possible the demolition of the Engineering Units and the Hammond Building on the Core Campus and creating a ready-to-build site for the future.
The work includes a complete remodel of the interior spaces; the addition of two new wings that are historically appropriate in scale and aesthetics to the original building design; and exterior site work that includes a new accessible pedestrian route. Once renovated, Sackett will feature 12 general purpose classrooms with 40 to 130 seats and a knowledge commons. The building will also house multiple administrative offices for the College of Engineering that will help to facilitate the educational experience for undergraduates and graduate students alike.
