UP-Sackett Building Renovation and Additions
The Sackett Building Renovation and Additions project involves a complex sequence of work on the core campus, including significant utility infrastructure upgrades (while maintaining operations), demolition of the Engineering Units, Kunkle Lounge, Hammond Building, and the 1957 Sackett Building wings, and appropriate landscaping restoration of the precinct ready for future development.
The original historic Sackett Building requires a complete gut, a new roof/attic structure, and new symmetrical wing additions. Scope of work includes demolition of entire structures and selective interior demolition; subsurface utility work including stormwater conveyance, steam and steam condensate, chilled water, domestic water, sanitary, electrical power, telecommunications systems; earthwork, hardscape, and landscape; concrete work including shallow foundations and slabs; masonry including historic restoration and repair; structural steel framing; miscellaneous and decorative metals; carpentry; thermal and moisture protection; roofing; doors and windows; architectural finishes; elevators; furniture, fixtures and equipment; fire suppression; plumbing; HVAC; electrical; and communications systems.
The building is approximately 78,257 gross square feet with a basement, sub-basement, mezzanine, and three levels above grade, plus a habitable attic level under the hipped roof.
