Pollock Road

Reminder: Pollock Road closed to through traffic near Old Main

Thursday, August 16, 2018

A section of Pollock Road located near Old Main remains closed to motor vehicle traffic as the fall semester commences at the University Park campus. The section closed permanently on June 17 to re-establish the area as a pedestrian zone in accordance with Penn State’s long-term campus master plan.

The two sets of gates previously installed in this area remain locked in the down position 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Vehicle access to Old Main, Lot Brown E, the Carnegie Building metered parking area, and all sections of Lot Brown A is available only by traveling east on Pollock Road from Burrowes Road, while access to Lot Brown B and Lot Brown C is available only by traveling west on Pollock Road from Shortlidge Road.

Bicycles continue to have the ability to travel through the closed section of Pollock Road via a designated bicycle access way running between each set of gates and allowing space for one direction of bicycle traffic to pass through at a time.

As of result of the closure of this section of Pollock Road, the recently-introduced Campus Shuttle via Pollock Road will now be known as the Campus Shuttle via Beaver Avenue when fall service begins on Monday, Aug. 20. The two stops located on Pollock Road near the parking information kiosks will be replaced by stops along Burrowes Road near Westgate Building and Elliott Building. Visit the Transportation Services website for more information on Campus Shuttle service.
