Area Services

Area Services is composed of these seven areas: One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Second Shift, and Weekend Shift . The areas provide customer advocacy and stewardship of the buildings in their designated area. To find your Area, check the Area Services Boundary Map.

Central Services

Central Services is comprised of Central Support Services, Garage Services, General Support, Landscape and Mechanical/Electrical. Central Services provides technical expertise with "trades specific" crews, and is tasked with oversight for trades training and safety planning. Central Services is also responsible for ownership of all contract maintenance to PSU customers.

Renovation Services provides customer-funded remodeling projects. Each distinct project is based on existing building conditions and can range from $2,000 to $5,000,000 in cost.

Q. What services does Renovation Services provide?
A. Renovation Services provides an assortment of services ranging from painting and carpeting an office, to renovating entire building, labs, and classrooms.
Q. How do I obtain an estimate for work we considering having done?
A. Contact your Area Services Shop and start a work order for small projects, or submit a Project Request Form through your Facility Coodinator for larger projects. Area Service Shops and Facility Coordinator listings can be found here.
Energy & Engineering

Engineering Services

Engineering Services provides technical consultation to OPP as well as to academic, research, and administrative functions of the University.
Responsibilities include:
- Energy conservation and cost reduction programs
- System optimization and improvement programs

Environmental Systems

Environmental Systems is comprised of four distinct functions: Building Automation System (BAS) Application Engineering, Central Control System (CCS), Utility Network Administration and Commissioning Services.
Responsibilities include:
- BAS engineering and documentation
- Installation, maintenance and repair of the utility fiber network
- Monitoring connected buildings from a central station
- BAS server and software maintenance
- New product investigation and recommendations

Utility Services

The Utility Services group is composed of Chilled Water Services, Electrical Services, Steam Services, Utility Construction Services, Water Services, and Wastewater Services.
Utility Services provides and distributes high quality, reliable high voltage electricity, steam, natural gas, compressed air and potable water to the University Park campus facilities. In addition, they collect, manage and treat wastewater and storm water.
Responsibilities include:
- Purchasing electricity and natural gas
- Producing steam, potable water, chilled water, and compressed air
- Operating/maintaining waste water treatment plant
- Operating/maintaining two steam plants
- Operating distribution systems
- Maintaining distribution systems
- Expanding existing systems
