Steam Line Safety
Purpose:
To provide procedure to be followed to prevent steam or hot condensate from being pushed back through the return system to open pipes where work is performed.
Policies and Procedures:
When working on main steam lines, zone values and drip legs is as follows:
When opening lines on heat systems in buildings with several zone values, all zones should be shut or the main steam valve closed before opening the system to make repairs.
