We participated in the Paint the Campus Day program for suite 110 Technology Center Building.
I wanted to let you know that the OPP crew did a fabulous job. They were hardworking, patient and extremely helpful throughout the day. A special thanks to Ken Grubb who organized and supervised the crews in the building and Roger Berg who led the crew in 110 Technology Center. Roger was pulled in every direction by staff asking questions, yet he remained most kind and professional all day long, thus contributing greatly to the success of the program for our office.
We have been in our current office space for 12 years, so the fresh coat of paint was sorely needed. The office now has a professional and fresh look to it again.

Re: Kim Brownson, Janitorial Staff
The Schreyer Honors College (SHC) in Atherton Hall, as you know, is a place that welcomes prospective students and their families, alumni and distinguished guests such as Mr. and Mrs. Schreyer, the President, Provost and others. Our lobby areas on the ground floor also serve as a stage for student receptions, academic orientations, a variety of board meetings, and other staff-related events hosting as many as 500 guests during a spring reception. I share all this to say how much we appreciate the pride and effort put forth by your staff, especially Kim Brownson, to keep Atherton Hall shining.
I personally feel that Kim goes above and beyond and takes pride in making sure our space is presentable and inviting to all who visit. She is often the first person I see when arriving and am always greeted with a smile and wonderful sense of humor.
Kim’s efforts are appreciated not only by the staff but by students who spend their day in a place they call “home.” Please feel free to share with her how much her efforts and hard work mean to all of us.

- To: Ron Pertu,
I want to thank you for the time and effort you have placed into working with the two student's this past year in completing the survey of 97 buildings at UP that were identified as requiring updated information on accessibility needs of restrooms and related access features (accessible routes, signage, toilet stalls, doors, etc). I've been reviewing the completed surveys and the scope and quality of work is superb. The survey results not only provide UAC with valuable information from which to identify items we might want to mitigate, but also serves as part of an updated transition plan for compliance requirements.
You provide outstanding service and support to UAC and you work in your quiet way, but I want to publicly acknowledge your contributions. The diligence in which you provide coordination of UAC projects at University Park and your willingness to assist in other UAC activities is very much appreciated by myself and the entire committee. Thanks again for your continued support and hard work.

- Dear Mr. Matyasovsky,
I wanted to thank you again for taking time out of your week last week to meet with me. As a result, I not only got an “A” but I have a new project to take on: making students clean up after themselves! I will be in touch with you in the fall regarding the trash clean-up after football games, as I am very interested.
With sincere thanks,
Adrienne Legath

- Dear OPP:
I want to extend my thanks and kudos to everyone involved in the rehab work in the Engineering Units over the past six months. The dramatic transformation of the spaces from their former squalid state is testament to the dedication and talent of the many OPP personnel who have been involved. As we now embark on the College-funded renovations that will allow us to fully utilize the space, we are truly grateful for the commitment and expedience that OPP has displayed in addressing the deferred maintenance needs in the buildings.
Please be sure to pass along my gratitude to all those who had a hand in making it happen!

There is great appreciation for OPP support and work on the facelift of Cellar Market, near Eisenhower Auditorium. I recall your and my discussion last year, in response to President Spanier's questions about this building. It now looks very nice.
thanks,

- Dear OPP:
- Snow Removal:
- My hat is off to your crew. Great job handling the storm.
--- Barry Scerbo, Director of Food Services (12/22/2005) - I think you folks are doing an awesome job!
--- Bill Myers. Telecom Building. (12/22/2005)
- My hat is off to your crew. Great job handling the storm.
- Customer Service:
- Holly Hosterman is the custodian in the J. Orvis Keller Building for floors 3, 4 and 5. She is a delight and has the best customer service!
A Business Administration professor had just one question on his exam testing the future managers' application of the concepts of communication with all ranks of people, "What is the name of the lady who cleans the restroom?"
Holly is well known in our building. She is also well known in Taiwan. A Workforce Education student had written an article describing Holly's customer service. The article was published in the Cross-Cultural magazine in China (this is a very premiere journal in China).
In November, another student interviewed Holly to discuss the article. Wei Wang made a presentation in Taiwan that featured Holly, her love of working at Penn State, and her great customer service. Holly makes the Keller Building more of a home for all of us. I really believe that we all are more productive and all help take care of the building since Holly takes such good care of the building.
Thanks & Happy Holidays (or as we say here - Happy Holly days)
