- Leadership and Best Management Practices: Provide leadership throughout the University for environmental stewardship through education and example.
- Environmentally Responsible Purchasing Policies: Encourage units to obtain maximum value for expenditures and work towards obtaining "best value" by taking a life cycle cost approach to purchases.
- Efficient Use and Conservation of Energy, Water and Other Resources: Minimize energy consumption by promoting efficient use and improving energy performance in facilities and operations.
- Minimize Solid Waste Production: Enhance policies and processes that reduce solid waste generation through reduction, reuse, and recycling.
- Minimize Hazardous Waste and Toxic Materials on Campus: Minimize use of and effectively track and dispose of hazardous materials.
- Environmentally Responsible Campus Design and Planning Principles: Consider the environmental implications in the development, construction, and operation of campus infrastructure, grounds and buildings.
- Transportation: Plan for and operate transportation systems to minimize the impact on the environment by encouraging walking, bicycles and mass transit systems as well as encouraging the use of clean burning efficient vehicles.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that facilities and practices meet or exceed compliance with applicable state and federal environmental regulations.
