Prior Accomplishments:
- Joined the Energy Star Buildings Program.
- Re-commissioned six buildings to conserve energy.
- Implemented steam trap maintenance program.
- Completed selection phase of first guaranteed energy savings project at University Park.
2003-04 Accomplishments:
- Implemented program to activate energy conservation features on computer monitors in OPP and EH&S
- Re-commissioned 8 buildings.
- Implemented the Guaranteed Energy Savings Program.
2004-05 Goals:
- Continue re-commissioning program to include 10 more buildings.
- Implement 2 more Guaranteed Energy Savings Project at University Park.
- Implement at least one Guaranteed Energy Savings Project at a campus location.
- Maximize energy efficiency in existing buildings, renovations, and new construction. (Engineering Services, Robert Cooper)
Prior Accomplishments:
- Commissioned 17 buildings through July 2002.
- Completed steam plant boiler control upgrades.
2003-04 Accomplishments:
- Completed balancing of steam plant control upgrades.
- Initiated detailed steam peak reduction study.
- Commissioned 6 newly constructed buildings.
2004-05 Goals:
- Develop steam peak reduction strategy.
- grade/install Direct Digital Controls in buildings undergoing renovations.
- Continue commissioning all new buildings.

Prior Accomplishments:
- Increased public awareness of need for water conservation at University. Ongoing.
2003-04 Accomplishments:
- Initiated once through cooling study at selected typical science building (Davey Lab).
- Completed plumbing retrofits in 3 Residence Halls for 5 million gallons/year decrease in domestic use.
- Replaced water-cooled after cooler with air-cooled after cooler at ECSP
2004-05 Goals:
- Develop once-through cooling/reduction strategy
- Continue plumbing retrofits in Residence Halls
- Explore the application of developing technologies for energy systems and use of resources, as well as the potential for use of renewable energy resources. (Engineering Services, Robert Cooper)
Prior Accomplishments:
- Completed the feasibility study for installing a Circulating Fluidized Bed Boiler for Co-firing Biofuels with coal at UP.
2004-05 Goals:
- Look for fuel cell technology applications, including partnerships for an installation.
- Understand the contribution of University operations to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. (Engineering Services, Robert Cooper)
2004-05 Goals:
- Working with the Environmental Consortium determine Penn State's 1990 baseline emissions, current emissions, and projected emissions, '03.
- Determine the implications of compliance with Kyoto protocol and current GHG Federal policy, '04.
- Conduct a green house gas inventory to establish our current emissions, estimate a 1990 baseline and project our emissions for 2010.
