Problem/Background:
Too much time spent documenting temporary transfers and processing pay increases for temporary transfers.
Objective:
Reduce time and money spent in processing temporary transfers and increase accuracy of temporary transfer records. It starts when supervisor identifies a need for temporary transfer and ends when the employee is paid and their file is documented.
Constraints/Resources:
No additional staff; within the terms of current University-Union contract.
Key Performance Measures:
Percent of time spent processing a temporary transfer request from start to finish and number of errors in temporary transfer records.
Expected Results:
Develop and implement an improved process that will result in quicker, more accurate temporary transfer processing.
Review Milestones:
- Flow diagram of current process has been completed.
- Team has completed evaluation of options.
- Implementation plan has been developed.
Desired Report Out Date:
July 31, 1997
Update:
- March 2, 1999, R. Kellar and D. Craig of ITS demonstrated the enhancements made to the VMSE system which created a "bare bones" database for up-to-date lists of employees interested in temporary transfer as well as the trades they've requested.
- March 30, 1999, the system went on line making it available for use, and instructions were mailed to all supervisors who will be using the system.
