Materials Shipment/Handling Process Action Team
Goal:
Reduce cost and effort wasted on storing and moving materials from place to place

Problem/Background:
- OPP Stores personnel are spending too much time moving and storing materials needlessly
- OPP Stores will be losing at least 9,000 sq ft of needed storage space
- Collect data on the number and types of material moves
Objective:
To develop and implement a process that will result in materials being stored correctly upon receipt and eliminate the unnecessary movement of materials to alternate storage locations
Constraints/Resources:
- No additional staff will be available
- No additional space will be available
Key Performance Measures:
Percent of time materials are stored and delivered efficiently
Expected Results:
Develop and implement a process that will result in materials being stored or delivered efficiently upon receipt

- Direct Delivery of materials to job site by vendor
- Reduction of amount of stock on hand for some items
- Increased use of JustInTime(JIT) shipments and ordering
- Specify delivery dates on orders to vendors
