Reduce cost and time required to pick up litter and empty trash receptacles without lowering current quality standards

Problem/Background:
The average cost per year to pick up litter and empty trash receptacles of $110,000 is excessive
Objective:
Reduce total costs and time required to pick up litter and empty trash receptacles.
Constraints/Resources:
- Seed money for investment in new equipment, receptacles, etc. would be available
- Same standards of quality must be met or improved
- No additional staffing will be available
Key Performance Measures:
- Annual cost for litter pick up and disposal
- Annual time for litter pick up and disposal
- Feedback from customers and landscape supervisors on quality standards maintained
Expected Results:
Develop and implement a process to pick up litter and empty trash receptacles which minimizes time required and reduces costs while maintaining or improving quality standards and customer satisfaction
Review Milestones:
- Flow diagram for the existing process is complete
- Team has completed evaluations of options
- Implementation plan has been developed
