Problem/Background:
Cleanup on litter within the facilities, both on vertical and horizontal surfaces, is taking time away from other custodial functions.
- The amounts of material posted on bulletin boards and walls, as well as flyers, etc. which subsequently end up on the floor have increased through the years
- In addition to being unsightly, it consumes our available resources
- Identify sources of internal litter and attempt to minimize impact
- Impact of University policy concerning postings and distribution of information on campus needs to be considered
Objective:
Update procedures to current best practices
Constraints/Resources:
- Seed money for investment in new equipment and receptacles would be available
- Money is also available for a public education campaign
- Continue to meet customers' expectations
- No additional staffing will be available
Key Performance Measures:
- Time spent cleaning up internal litter
- Costs to clean up internal litter
- Customer satisfaction on meeting expectations
Expected Results:
Improve the process for cleaning up internal litter which minimizes the time required, and reduces costs while maintaining customer satisfaction
