Garage Inventory Process Action Team
Goal:
To study and improve time spent on charging/recording parts on garage slips and transferring these into the computer.

Problem/Background:
Time spent tracking parts usage is excessive. Some loss of inventory occurs during the year
- Time spent inputting parts into CCS is time consuming
- No inventory control person stationed at the parts room
- Some loss of parts from inventory occurs
Objective:
Reduce time spent on charging/recording parts on garage slips and transferring into the computer. Also, reduce inventory losses.
Constraints/Resources:
- No additional staff will be available
- Some money will be available for investment in new equipment if needed
- Continue to meet customers' expectations
- Some staff time will be made available to implement/train
Key Performance Measures:
- Amount of Judy's time inputting parts into computer
- Parts loss from one inventory to the next. (Once a year)
- Amount of time spent by technicians getting parts from the parts room
- Amount of time spent by technicians doing paperwork
Expected Results:
Implement the changes in the work process to achieve the Objective and follow up to ensure changes are effective and remain in place.
Review Milestones:
- Sponsor and team agrees to charter.
- Flow chart current macro process, has been detailed into a micro flow chart.
- Team has completed evaluation of the process and identified possible solutions.
- Implementation plan completed and final report out.
