The Work Control Center (WCC) is an organization that plans, establishes priorities, manages OPP backlogs, and allocates the total resources directed to maintenance, repair, renovation, and operation of the University Park, Penn State University physical plant. It is an organization that is continuously improving, seeking to optimize resources allocation, eliminating waste, communicating effectively, and satisfying its customers.

Goals

  1. Satisfy customers and have clear customer contact points.
  2. Good communications and good information.
  3. Use resources in most effective manner.
  4. Balance work force and work load.
  5. Foster a climate for continuous process improvement.
  6. Logically divide responsibilities and clear definition of duties.
  7. Allow supervisors to lead, by providing estimating, planning, and support.
  8. Perform preventive maintenance on schedule.
  9. Implement a predictive maintenance program.
  10. Taking initial minor corrective action before expensive repairs are needed
  11. Develop mechanisms to obtain cross OPP organizational coordination and cooperation.
  12. Finish jobs promptly and completely.
  13. Commission buildings adequately.
