Facilities Resources & Planning, located in the Office of Physical Plant, is comprised of a Director, support staff, and four teams of focus: Capital Planning, Space Planning & Management, Architects, and Real Estate. Major projects in which our staff are involved include programming, planning, and funding requests for new buildings and major renovation projects, reassignment and realignment of space throughout the university, ADA projects, real estate acquisitions and transactions, classroom improvements, and campus signage.

Facilities Resources and Planning is responsible for maintaining 14,652,675 GSF of space at University Park, with a total of 19,579,853 GSF throughout the Penn State educational system. This square footage is housed in 1,105 buildings, of which 740 are at UP. PSU owns a total of 18,571.4 acres of land. We lease 141,092 sq. ft. of space for PSU tenants with an additional 261,748 sq. ft. of space that is leased to non- PSU tenants.

Mission

Responsible for space management and planning processes to include the computerized facilities room inventory, space reassignments, relocations, justifications, programming for new or renovated facilities, administration of the Capital Improvement Plan and submission of the Capital Budget Request. Facilities Resources and Planning also manages University Park rental properties and lease agreements, and real estate purchases, provides leadership in ADA compliance issues, manages campus signage and administratively supports the Facilities Resources Committee and the University Committee for Instructional Facilities.
