Central Control Systems

Supervisor, Automation Systems: Gary L Persing, glp11@psu.edu

121 Office of Physical Plant
University Park, PA 16802-1119

Hours of Operation:  24/7/365

CCS traces its history from the 1970's when the University used a "Central Control System."  This meant that the intelligent control for all buildings was housed in a computer located in the Office of Physical Plant.  Today the University installs Building Automation Systems with the intelligence distributed to each building.  In this manner the building will continue to operate properly if the network between OPP and the building is severed.

The CCS control station is located in the Office of Physical Plant and is staffed on a 24/7/365 basis.  The CCS Operators monitor all of our digitally connected buildings (approximately 350) from  this control station.  They monitor alarms, remotely troubleshoot building automation systems and report to the Work Control Center any situations that need addressed by the technical service staff.

CCS also has technical service employees that are responsible for the daily repair and maintenance of some of the legacy Building Automation Systems.  In addition, this crew is responsible for the installation, extension and maintenance of the Utility Fiber Network.
