Campus Planning & Design

As an outgrowth of the University's master planning process, the Division of Campus Planning and Design was established to provide the "big picture" view of our campus environments. In addition to implementing the Master Plan at University Park Campus, the division is responsible for ensuring the highest possible design quality of all buildings, civic spaces, and master plans throughout the University system. We also are responsible for:

• Selection of consultants for capital projects including: architects, landscape architects, engineers, and transportation planners
• Site selection for new facilities
• Design review of all projects
• Facilitation of Penn State's Facilities Planning Advisory Board
• Providing feasibility studies for proposed major design projects
• Assisting with preparation of preliminary estimates for building projects
• Acting as contact point for outside design professionals and consultants
• Providing support for planning and design projects (research, presentation graphics, etc.)
• Designing presentation of projects for review by the Board of Trustees

Consultant Survey Form

The Penn State Office of Physical Plant Consultant Survey Form is a form that gives Architecture, Landscape Architecture and Engineering firms the opportunity to give, to the University, a brief description of their firm and the services they provide.

This information is entered into a database managed by the Division of Campus Planning and Design. This database is used to request proposals for design work at all Penn State locations.

If your firm would like to be listed in the database, or if your firm is already listed and would like to update its information, please fill out the Consultant Survey Form and mail it to the address listed on the back of the form or email it to ua@opp.psu.edu. Questions regarding the actual process of architect/engineer selection should be directed to David Zehngut (University Architect) at dxz3@nw.opp.psu.edu. 

Intermodal Transportation Concept

The Intermodal Transportation Concept is the University's effort to implement the Master Plan, which was approved by the Board of Trustees in 1999. The University Park Campus Master Plan (UPCMP) is the definitive document, which provides a blueprint for the future of University Park. The Master Plan envisions a campus that is more pedestrian-friendly and environmentally sustainable, with less dependence on cars, better mass transit, more use of bicycles and walking, enhanced open spaces, and infill instead of sprawl.
